The General Directorate of Traffic has launched a free mobile application so you can carry your driving license and vehicle documentation in digital format on your phone. Simply log in using the Cl@ve system (electronic identity for public administrations) to get started. Currently, the app allows you to generate and view your digital license and key details. The digital documentation created by the miDGT app is valid for driving within Spain. However, for additional security, it is recommended to still carry your physical documents, especially if your phone malfunctions, loses signal, or if you are traveling abroad. More features are coming soon, such as fine notifications and payments, fee purchases, office appointment bookings, and managing vehicle and license procedures. Permissions Needed: Camera: Required to scan QR codes of digital or physical documents. Storage: Needed to save downloaded files, such as verified documents, vehicle reports, or fine receipts. Location: Used to find nearby offices for appointment booking and to access traffic incident reports (feature coming soon). Calendar: Enables saving appointments or creating future reminders (feature coming soon). A data connection is necessary for the app to function correctly. All permission information, such as location data, remains on the device and is not sent to the General Directorate of Traffic. As a user, you have full control over granted permissions. You can enable or disable notifications from the app settings menu and manage each permission in your device settings. Choose to always allow, allow only during use, or deny permissions as you prefer. Note that denying permissions may disable related functions.
